# Limits

> All public limits of Faxbeep in one table.

These are the limits that apply to each test. The limits of count, size and pages are for tests by email: [scan to email](/tests/scan-to-email) and [Internet Fax](/tests/internet-fax).

| Email tests from one sender address | 60 each hour |
| Size of one email | 7 MB for the full email, so the file can be about 5 MB |
| Pages in one file | 20 |
| Time a test is public | 30 days |
| Time the removal link works | 4 hours |

## Rules for a test by email

| Rule | Value |
| - | - |
| File types | TIFF, PDF or JPEG. Faxbeep reads the type from the file, not its name. |
| Files in one email | One. If you send more, Faxbeep shows one of them. |
| PDF with a password | Not accepted |
| Colour | Accepted, and shown in colour |

A test by phone must be black and white. Colour faxes by phone are not supported.

## When a test is over a limit

| Limit | What happens |
| - | - |
| Email tests in one hour | Faxbeep refuses each email after the first 60 from your address. Most emails that Faxbeep refuses also count. Wait one hour. |
| Size of one email | Faxbeep refuses the email. Use a lower resolution, fewer pages, or black and white. |
| Pages in one file | Faxbeep refuses the email. Send fewer pages. |
| File type | Faxbeep refuses the email. Set the scan file format to PDF, TIFF or JPEG. |
| More than one file | Faxbeep shows one file: a PDF or TIFF before a JPEG. If your machine makes one JPEG for each page, set the format to PDF or TIFF. |
| Time a test is public | Faxbeep removes the test. Its page then says that the fax was removed. See [Public for 30 days](/privacy/public-for-30-days). |
| Time the removal link works | The link no longer works. Send a new removal request. See [Remove a fax](/privacy/remove-a-fax). |

When Faxbeep refuses an email, your mail server gets a short message with the reason, and many machines show or print it. For each message and what to do, see [Email refusal messages](/troubleshooting/email-refusals).
